The order Odonata is divided into three suborder - Anisoptera (Dragonflies), Zygoptera (Damselflies) and Anisoptera.Dragonflies and Damselflies are called Odonates.
"Dragonflies" are generally larger than Damselflies. Body usually stocky.At resting position their wings held open, horizontally or downwards.
"Damselflies" are generally smaller than Dragonflies. Body usually long and slender.At resting position their wings held closed, usually over abdomen.
